I don’t think I’ve ever seen an upside down plate before.

Highway patrol hates this one simple trick

I never question Toyota drivers, they’re usually clueless (not the ones on here lol)

Oh I get it. They’re Australian .

Probably trying to trick cameras.
Certainly begging to be pulled over by the police.

How is right... how are you traveling 15km/h while stopped at red light

Oh, I was still moving. I stuck him moments later.

I like that idea. Looking up some state statutes, nothing says I have to put the license plate right side up.

Looking at the driver, I think it was more dementia rather than any nefarious reasons

So I mentioned this in another post on the topic, but I’ve had people tell me that it tricks enforcement cameras (tolls/red lights/etc.). I can’t really believe that is true, but it’s an explanation.
I had a weird one a few weeks ago though. A Wrangler (with a cute Boston Terrierish dog in it) with what appeared to be a misstamped front plate. It had the numbers right side up, but all the Massachusetts /Spirit of America/e xpiration month stuff was upside-down.

I’d be curious if this has any effect on automated plate readers, since leaving the second largest city in New Mexico in any direction involves driving through a Border Patrol checkpoint with automated plate readers and facial recognition cameras in use that feed into that DHS database that got hacked the other week.

I deal with the border patrol a lot. I will flip my plate on Saturday and see if they mention it.

Speaking of license plates and Camrys, I saw one of that vintage with the vanity plate “WEHVFUN”. All I could think of is No, no you don’t...

Ha, I couldn’t do y’all dirty like that. I’m sure Oppo Toyota drivers know to turn their headlights on when it’s raining or dusk.
